History Of The Apollo Theater

The Apollo Theater was opened in 1913 in Harlem, 253 West 125th St. New NY 10027. It was designed by George Keister with an area of 17,420 ft. When opened up the Apollo Theater only allowed whites but they eventually changed the rule and started to allow blacks.  Due to the thefts and robberies that were happening in Harlem they eventually had to close down. In 1976 they reopened the Apollo Theater.  A estimated  1.3 million people visit every year.

  Micheal Jackson: A Singer
  Stevie Wonder: Pianist, Singer
  Jimi Hendrix: Guitarist, Singer
